TOPSoccer - The Outreach Program for Soccer

Click on the logo to go the national US Youth Soccer TOPSoccer Website
TOPSoccer, The Outreach Program for Soccer, is a New York State West and US Youth Soccer official program. This program is designed for children with disabilities, ages 5 to 21. This program accommodates all disabilities whether mental or physical. This is an exciting program that brings the joy of playing soccer to players who have not traditionally had a place in the youth soccer system.

The key to this program is flexibility. TOPSoccer can offer opportunities such as single day clinics, jamborees, weekly training, individual skills programs and even recreational league play. TOPSoccer is fully supported with training materials, assessment tools and a statewide support network to help get local programs off the ground.

Several TOPSoccer programs are up and running in our state. For more information about TOPSoccer, contact Scot Boniface at TOPSoccer@nyswysa.org.

This event was a preview to the upcoming Niagara TOPSoccer League that will take place on Thursday evenings starting June 14th. All players can register at the first session. Coaching TOP Soccer Athletes
Presentation from 2007 US Youth Soccer Workshop

The following document was presented at the 2007 US Youth Soccer Coachs Workshop and Convention in St. Louis entitled:

Coaching TOP Soccer Athletes

TOPSoccer's special teams have a ball
From the Buffalo Evening News
By Bob Dicesare of the Buffalo Evening News

The warm-up shots arrive one after another, but Danny Tamburlin is up to the task. He kicks out his left foot to make one stop, shoots out his left arm to make another.

"Great save," shouts volunteer Mark Spacone. "That one was going upper corner where mama hides the cookies."

Danny, 12, beams.

In many ways this could be any soccer field on any summer night in Western New York, with children making their way up and down a pitch lined with parents urging them on. But there is one inescapable difference.
TOPSoccer Video
You can download a TOPSoccer promo video that was produced in Buffalo by Chris Miller. This is a very big file (78MB), so please be patient.

Download Here or watch in the player below.

Dreams
You can make a difference!
Are you living your dreams? When parents are expecting a child, they have dreams for their unborn baby. They dream of a super athlete, a great scholar, and a popular child who will grow up healthy and happy. They dream of dates, high school graduation, college, marriage and grandchildren. When their child is born, that child has his/her own dreams and the parents incorporate their child’s dreams into their own. And the dreams change as their child grows.
How to Conduct a TOPSoccer Practice
PowerPoint Presentations from the recent Region 1 TOPSoccer Seminar
In March of 2006 the 15 States of Region 1 sent their TOPSoccer representative to Balitmore for a summit on the status of TOPSoccer within the Region.  The following PowerPoint presentations came from that conference and are posted here to share with all who are interested in working with special needs athletes.
