As I get ready to take over as President of the NYSWYSA on January 1, 2005, I would like to share some thoughts with you.

I truly appreciate the confidence that the Board has shown in me, as well as the support and trust several of you have expressed. However, I certainly have no grandiose views of being the sole person with all the answers. But with my 15+ years of experience on the Board, along with my tenure of a year and a half as the Interim Executive Director and almost a full year in the position of ODP Administrator, I believe I can bring a high level of knowledge and competence to the Organization. I feel I can look back with satisfaction at the many issues and programs Ive been part of resolving and/or developing from our new organization bylaws and multiple club bylaws, a variety of policies (tournament hosting, small sided games, risk management, registration/insurance to mention a few), the establishment of a state office and the hiring of its employees as well as the hiring of our State Director of Coaching, the negotiation of the past 5 insurance contracts and multiple other contracts, to the development of our new RosterPro registration program.

But in spite of all these advances, I also am acutely aware of the fact that there are many improvements and changes that still need to be made. However, this is not something the Board can accomplish on its own; we will need your active involvement and cooperation in the form of input and recommendations and suggestions. And I am already working on a plan for accomplishing this. Above all though, we need you to always be totally above board with us and deal with us in an honest and straight forward manner. I, on my part, can guarantee you that I will do my utmost to always represent you honestly and in a professional manner that properly dignifies the office of the Presidency of the NYSWYSA. I can also promise you that I will give it my very best effort to make sure I will be leading a Board whose integrity and motives will never be in doubt.

I look forward to getting to know many of you better and together face the many challenges that undoubtedly lie ahead. But mostly I am excited about having another opportunity to share my passion and love for the game of soccer by working with a new Board and with all of you to provide the best possible program for the many youth we all represent. So when we get bogged down and when we disagree, let us remind each other that we are all doing this for the love of the game and for the love of the kids in NY West.

Sincerely,

Sandy
