In conjunction with the NYSWYSA Annual General Meeting, the 2012 NYSW Coaches Workshop will be held on Fri/Sat, November 9/10, 2012 at the RIT Inn and Conference Center (Lecture) in West Henrietta, NY and the Doug Miller Family Sports Park (Field Sessions) in Spencerport, NY.  This year’s workshop will feature renowned clinician and coach education leader, Jeff Tipping.  Legendary North Carolina Head Women’s Soccer Coach and former US Women’s National Team Coach, Anson Dorrance calls Tipping, “the finest coach educator and coaching education thinker the USA has produced.” 

Tipping was an accomplished player as both a collegian, winning the 1977 NCAA Division I National Championship while attending Hartwick College, and later as a professional, captaining the Pennsylvania Stoners to the 1980 ASL National Championship.  His coaching prowess began to take shape with successful coaching stints as a player/coach with the Pennsylvania Stoners (1981), as an Assistant Coach at Hartwick College (1982-86, which included two NCAA Final Four appearances) and as the Head Coach at Muhlenburg College (1986-2002), where his teams reached the NCAA Tournament eight times. An NSCAA Staff Coach since 1983, Tipping became the association’s Director of Coaching in 1996 and in 2002, was named the NSCAA Director of Education and Coach Development, a position he held with distinction for nine years.  Through Tipping’s leadership the NSCAA gained national and international acclaim for its advances in coaching education and its broad based offerings. In 1998, Tipping served as the US Women’s National Team Technical Advisor under Tony DiCicco.   A UEFA instructor, assessor and an accomplished clinician, Tipping presents at numerous workshops in the USA, Europe and Latin America.  Joining Tipping at the workshop will be NYSWYSA Director of Recreation Soccer, Chris Pacilio, who will present a field session on activities for rec-soccer players.  Jesse Meyers, Head Coach of the Rochester Rhinos, will also participate in the weekend activities, serving as the featured guest speaker at the NYSWYSA Awards Banquet, which both recognizes and celebrates the many achievements of the NYSWYSA membership.

Coach Tipping will present a lecture on Friday evening at 7:00pm at the RIT Inn and Conference Center.  On Saturday, he will conduct field sessions in the Doug Miller Family Sports Park at 10:15am and again at 1:15pm.  In addition to Tipping, Coach Chris Pacilio will conduct his recreational soccer field session on Saturday at 11:45am.  All field sessions will take place at the Doug Miller Family Sports Park on Saturday. The NYSWYSA Annual General Meeting will take place at 4pm at the RIT Inn and Conference Center followed by the NYSWYSA Awards Banquet which will be held at the same facility at 7pm.
