Junior Rhino Boy's Win Again!

2-1 Win over California team assures slot in Championship match

The U15 Boys Rochester Jr. Rhinos downed Palos Verdes Raiders (of Southern California) 2-1, in their second round-robin match of the Snickers National Youth Soccer Championships in Germantown, MD, this morning.   The Junior Rhinos scored first when Chris Brugger vollyed home a crossing ball in the 18th minute.   Palos Verdes tied the game in minute 31 and it remained that way at the half.   In the 56th minute, Rhinos' Chris Nacca drilled home a direct free kick from about 30 yards out, and that proved to be the game winner.

The win essentially locks up a spot in Sunday's Championship match for the Jr. Rhinos, now 2-0 in round robin play with one match left to play.

Friday, the Jr. Rhinos will take on Sockers FC of Chicago(Region II), winners over Palos Verdes 3-1 in yesterdays and losers to the Aiken Fire, 3-1 this morning.   Todays results eliminates PVSC, and puts the Jr. Rhino's in the driver's seat for a spot in the finals on Sunday.   The Sockers must beat the Rhinos tomorrow and hope for a loss or a tie by Aiken.   With a win over PVSC, and a Sockers loss or tie, the Aiken Fire can earn a re-match with the Jr. Rhino's in Sunday's 9AM National Championship match.
