Noteworthy Tips for Players and Parents
November 18, 2007

NYSW Staff and Administrators have compiled a list of tips believed to be worthy of sharing with you as we embark on the 2007-08 ODP Season!

-      Make sure the pool manager has your correct contact information (address, phone numbers, email addresses, required forms).

-        All 3 facilities that we are using for our indoor training have a NO CLEAT policy (and these will be strictly enforced); players should wear either turf shoes or flats!

-        Players are required to attend any NYSW ODP event, including training, with the NYSW ODP issued apparel they have received.

-        Shin guards are required.

-        Bring a soccer ball and water bottle with your names clearly written on them in case they are misplaced.

-        Lunch – please bring a light and healthy lunch/snack for the break between field sessions during pool training dates.  Players should avoid soda, heavy foods and junk food. Lunches/breaks will always be in the facility; players are not permitted to leave the premises during the pool training session.

-        Parents are encouraged to drop players off and return at the end of the session.  It is proven that players are more relaxed and perform more comfortably when parents are not watching.

-        Please plan to arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the beginning of your training session!

-        In the event a family does not have health insurance coverage that is your own issue.  IF there is an injury incurred while at a youth soccer event (assuming you are a registered player with a club and have a player pass) you MUST register with your pool manager and/or coaching staff and complete an Accident Report form. After such time when the bills have been paid that is when to contact either Donna or Terri at the office to inquire as to the process to be followed for reimbursement or small contribution towards medical expenses paid. When it comes time to completing the Accident Report form (on the website under Forms) this must be reported to a staff member or a pool manager who, in conjunction with the parent/guardian, will complete the form and submit to the office to keep on file.

-        All players need to sign in with manager before taking the field.

-        Notify the pool manager by email if the player is unable to attend.

-        Be Ready! Arriving early is on time! On-time is late!  Be warmed up and ready to take the field at starting time of session.

-        Players are expected to conduct themselves both on and off the field in a respectful and congenial manner at all times.

-        Given the demographics of our Association, we are all aware that our winter weather patterns can be polar opposites at times. Given the fact, we will not cancel any training session but do request that the parents use their own judgment in traveling to/from training sessions during questionable weather conditions.
