2010 State Cup News
Draw Results
The playdown draw was held in Cortland on Saturday, March 27. 140 teams are entered in the 2010 NYSW Cup, an increase of 15% in entries from 2009. The playdown brackets can be viewed on the state website. The home team is on the top of the bracket and is responsible for scheduling the match.

Emma Firenze and the Region I Girls ODP 1995 Team is in Costa Rica
Emma is one of NYSW’s Regional players. The 95 girls are traveling back from Costa Rica as this story is being drafted. The US Youth Soccer ODP Girls 95 teams played their final matches of the tournament on March 29th. All four Regional teams took a day off before games 3 and 4 to visit Poas Volcano, do the Canopy zip-line tour, and compete in a team-building canoe relay race. Photos, interviews and match statistics can be found on our Tournament Web site. Emma’s home club is Empire United Soccer Academy.

May 10 at Ridgemont Country Club, Rochester, NY
Organized by volunteers associated with Doug Miller Soccer proceeds from the tournament are given to NYSW to invest in the TOPSoccer program. Come have a great day on a great course for an even greater game of soccer for children with disabilities. Dinner, Cocktails, and prizes. Click for details.
Two new TOPSoccer instructors trained
Chris Pacillio and Jonny Sinclair attended the Region I TOPSoccer training on March 21st and are now certified to act as a resource to clubs seeking to start a TOPSoccer program. The program creates an opportunity to play soccer for mentally and physically challenged children. Many watch their siblings play soccer each weekend and really enjoy being able to play in their “own” program according to their personal abilities. If your club or community is interested in learning more about starting a program, visit the state website or call the office. Financial resources as well as coaching expertise are available.
