NYW Teams at Regionals
Small sided play at the U12 level
The two U12 teams representing NY West at the Region I Tournament in Virginia Beach performed very well.

A total of 12 teams participated in the 8v8 competition in each division with our teams each winning their group with 9 points. The U12G team from the Syracuse FC lost 3-1 to Connecticut in the semifinals. The team is coached by Paul Bonus and the assistant is Kelly Firenze.

The U12B team from the Rochester FC defeated Connecticut #1 by a score of 4-0 in the semifinals but was not able to match an earlier performance and lost 2-0 to Maryland #2 in the finals. (They had beaten the same team 3-1 in their opening match of the tournament). The team is coached by Krzysztof Witkowski, and his two assistants are Don D'Amico and John Ogden.

Congratulations to both teams!

Summary of other results:

The U14G team from the Syracuse FC, coached by Tony Epifani, finished first in their group with seven points but then lost 2-1 in OT to Delaware in the semis. The Buffalo United U16G, coached by Nicholas DeMarsh, and the Syracuse Blitz U17G, coached by Kevin Perrigo, both finished second in their group, as did the Syracuse FC U13B, coached by Evan Chase and the Rochester Jr Rhinos U15B, coached by Howard Allen. Coach Henrik Ambarchian's U14B from Buffalo United was also second in their group, losing on a tie breaker to the eventual champion from Maryland. The Syracuse FC U16B, who finished second in their group with seven points, was given the Fair Play Award.
