At the November 2007 AGM, the N.Y. West membership approved a proposal to provide up to 40 Member Clubs the opportunity to receive a grant of $800 exclusively to supplement a club’s purchase of professional-style small-sided goals from Score. This proposal provides support for those clubs who plan to replace or invest in new goals for their younger players.
The response to this program was outstanding, with 47 clubs submitting a formal request prior to the Dec. 21, 2007 deadline. To determine which 40 clubs will receive the grants, NYSW will hold a random draw in the community room at TSE (Total Sports Experience, 880 Elmgrove Rd., Rochester, NY, 14264) on Sat., Jan. 12 at noon. Club representatives do not have to be present, but are welcome to attend.
When the draw is completed, NYSW will e-mail the goal grant winners, and will post their names on our website, www.nyswysa.org. Each goal grant winner will then have until Jan. 31 to remit payment to the NYSWYSA, in the form of a club check made out to ’Score American Soccer.’ Clubs failing to submit payment before the deadline will forfeit their grant.
It is anticipated that the goals will be delivered to one of the four locations by Apr. 1, 2008. A formal announcement of the delivery date, and the delivery locations, will be made by NYSW to all grant-winning clubs as soon as such information is available. Goal pick-up locations will be determined in relation to where the goals are purchased; the expectation at this time is that this will likely be Buffalo, Rochester, or Syracuse. Member clubs will be responsible for transportation from those central locations.
Clubs which do not win the draw, or clubs that wish to order more than one set of goals may still be eligible for reduced shipping costs by taking advantage of the bulk discount NYSW will be able to obtain by shipping a number of goals to one location. Click here for more information.
