Recreational Youth Referee Instructor Course
RECREATIONAL YOUTH REFEREE INSTRUCTOR COURSE
 
CourseJan. 12, 2008, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Central New York Family Sports Centre, Jones Rd., Baldwinsville (Exit 39 thruway).
 
Minimum Age — 18 years old as of May 1, 2008
• No previous experience required, but experience as a referee is desirable
• Cost: $55 plus NYSWYSA Risk Management if needed ($6)
 
Upon successful completion of the course and practicum, the candidate will be able to teach the Recreational Youth Referee class to certify Grade-9 referees in the United States Soccer Federation. The focus of the class is NOT on the Laws of the Game, but instead on the method of TEACHING the Laws and use of the presentations offered by the USSF for that purpose. You will ONLY be certified to teach the eight-hour Recreational Youth Referee Certification class. The successful candidate must be able to show mastery over the Recreational Youth Referee class by either demonstrating that mastery during this class or by teaching the Recreational Youth Referee class at a later date with an experienced instructor. Some candidates may elect to participate in teaching the Jan. 19th class listed below.
 
                                    RECREATIONAL YOUTH REFEREE CLASS
 
Course: Jan. 19, 2008, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Central New York Family Sports Centre, Jones Rd., Baldwinsville (Exit 39 thruway).

• Cost: $35 plus NYSWYSA Risk Management if needed ($6)
 
This class is designed for those people interested in refereeing USSF recreational youth soccer matches and small-sided games. The primary focus of the class is on the Laws of the Game. Grade-9 recreational youth referees may center any non-competitive match up to the U14 age level and be the Assistant Referee on any match up to the U14 age level. The successful candidate will pass a 50-question test to demonstrate readiness to take to the field.
