Gale Agbossoumonde Plays for U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team
NYW ODP veteran Gale Agbossoumonde, who currently resides at the IMG Academy Program in Bradenton, Fla., after being part of the USSF Residency Program there for a year, earned a prestigious honor in November when he was named to the United States’ Under-20 Men’s National Team roster for a series of games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Agbossoumonde, who turned only 16 just days before the trip, was one of the youngest members of the team that played three games against professional and national squads from South America.

After earning a 1-1 draw against the Academy team of famed Argentinean professional squad River Plate on Nov. 26, the Americans earned the same scoreline against Argentina’s youth side, with Agbossoumonde playing all 180 minutes on defense in the two contests. The team wrapped up its trip with 1-0 defeat to Uruguay on Dec. 1, with Agbossoumonde entering the game in the 46th minute and playing the full second half.

In addition to his success with the Under-20 Men’s National Team, Agbossoumonde was also recently named team captain for the U.S. ‘91 MNT, and “informed sources” have him linked to an upcoming tryout with Arsenal of England.
NYW is proud of Agbossoumonde’s accomplishments, and wish him all best in what could prove to be an exciting 2008!
