|2018/19 U19 ODP Program|
The New York West Olympic Development Program has added a new indoor training program for boys and girls players in the U19 age group (IE. players born in ‘00 and ’01). Traditional ODP at the state and regional level tops out at the U17 age group nationwide. NYW has independently made the decision to expand its programming to include this new U19 training program to serve the serious and committed player looking for high level training to supplement their club and/or high school training. The program is open to all age eligible players and will provide competitive training for players who have an eye toward playing soccer in college. We are seeking players with a strong desire for self-improvement and players who are ambitiously looking for the edge in training that will help them move up in the player pecking order.
The U19 Indoor Training Program will run parallel to the traditional NYW ODP indoor training. For 2018/19 there will be five indoor training dates. Each will include a 90 minute training session, followed by a 90 minute break (IE. 45 minutes for lunch/snack, followed by a 45 minute lecture presented by our NYW ODP Coaching Staff) and then a second 90 minute training session.
Training sessions will focus on technical training, small sided games and the accompanying attacking and defending tactical implications. There will also be scrimmaging in larger numbers with attention paid to larger scale tactics. The training sessions will be competitive and demanding with a specific emphasis on holding players to the high standard needed IN TRAINING that produces high level execution IN GAMES (a notion they will become very familiar with in a college soccer training environment).
The NYW ODP Coaching Staff will work through a number of planned lecture topics on each training date. Topics include but are not limited to: Proper Training Habits, Tactics, Nutrition, College Recruiting, and What does it mean to be “Match Fit”.
As we approach the spring (and as participant players acquire their spring club schedules/commitments) we will poll the U19 player pool to gauge the interest/availability of adding an outdoor training phase and also participation in a showcase tournament. The current program fee is for indoor training only and if/when additional phases are added, additional fees will also be added.
The U19 training session are led by certified coaches (A and/or B licenses) who are on the NYW ODP Coaching Staff:
The Head Coach for the U19G’s will be Jim Hesch (USSF A-License, National Youth License) – Head Women’s Coach, D’Youville College --> Bio
The Head Coach for the U19B’s will be Yuri Lavrinenko (USSF A-License, National Youth License) – Associate Head Men’s Coach, Rochester Institute of Technology --> Bio
U19B’s and U19G's Goalkeeper Training Schedule (optional, in addition to U19 sessions above):
