2026-27 ODP Tryout Information

The 2026/27 ODP cycle will begin this fall/winter with open tryouts for both boys and girls born in the birth years from 13U through 17U.  Our 12U tryouts will be held in the spring of 2027.

Our traditional ODP scheduling for the 2026/27 season will include tryouts, an indoor training phase, an outdoor training phase and the eventual selection of the NYW ODP State Team that will participate in the Northeast ODP Sub-Regional and the ODP Tournament. The tryouts for the 12U to 17U players are outlined below.

The 10/11U Pre-ODP Program which serves as developmental program for both boys and girl’s players (10U and 11U players) does not conduct tryouts. Click here to learn more about the 10/11U Pre–ODP Program.

NYSW ODP will also continue to provide indoor training for both boys and girls players 19U players. The 19U ODP Program will provide training opportunities for this college prep age group, which will include indoor training, outdoor training and scrimmages (including spring games against collegiate competition). There are no tryouts for this age group. Simply proceed to register for indoor training via the online indoor training link. ODP tryouts for 13U and 14U boys and girls residing within the confines of NYSWYSA will be held on September 26th, 2027 in Rochester and Binghamton, and Syracuse and Buffalo on September 27th, 2027. Players identified at these tryouts will be asked to attend a Call-Back Tryout on Sunday, October 4th, 2027, in Rochester, where the final pool will be selected. ODP tryouts for 15U, 16U, and 17U boys residing within the confines of NYSWYSA will be held on Saturday, December 12th (2012 Boys) and Sunday, December 13th (2010 Boys and 2011 Boys) in Rochester. For detailed information on site location and tryout times, please click here.

Eligibility

The Olympic Development Program follows the international age classification system, whereby players are grouped according to the calander year (January 1st to December 31st). ODP has eight age groups each for boys and girls, the youngest of which is the 10/11U age group which is considered a developmental program (where there are no tryouts).

ODP Tryouts Policy

Based on their performance during the 2025/26 ODP season, the following boys and girls players are NOT required to try out for the 2026/27 Indoor Pool – i.e. they are automatically included in this season’s (2026/27) Indoor Pool:

  • 12U: All players are eligible for the district indoor training. All players must try-out for the 2026/27 12U ODP teams. Players who participated in the 11U Pre-ODP program in 2025/26 are required to tryout.
  • 13U: All active players from the 2025/26 NYW ODP Outdoor Pool are exempted from 13U tryouts in 2026/27.
  • 14U: All active players from the 2025/26 NYW ODP Outdoor Pool are exempted from 14U tryouts in 2026/27.
  • 15U: All active players from the 2025/26 NYW ODP Outdoor Pool are exempted from 15U tryouts in 2026/27.
  • 16U: All active players from the 2025/26 NYW ODP Outdoor Pool are exempted from 16U tryouts in 2026/27.
  • 17U: All active players from the 2025/26 NYW ODP Outdoor Pool are exempted from 17U tryouts in 2026/27. 

All players exempted from tryouts (also referred to as “ODP Returning Players”) must pay the indoor training registration fee for their respective age group by the required deadline to secure their place in the 2026/27 NYW ODP Indoor pool.

For the 2026/27 ODP Cycle: Players born in the year 2015 (11U) are eligible to try-out for the 2014 (12U) ODP player pool. This is the only ODP age group where players are permitted to play “up” an age group. While each year a few 11U players will make their way into the 12U player pool, please understand that the task of making the 12U pool is a very difficult one. Any 11U players who elect to tryout but are not selected to the 12U player pool will be referred to the NYW 11U Pre-ODP Program (which begins each year in mid-December).
